Stay Aligned with Your Big Vision
Now, let's talk about staying on track with your big vision for 2023. But before we dive into the juicy part, have you caught the Netflix documentary "Stutz"? It's directed by Jonah Hill and features his therapist, Phil, also known as Stutz. This therapist isn't your usual listen-and-nod counselor; he equips his patients with practical tools for instant change.
The tool I want to introduce you to is the "String of Pearls." Imagine each step forward as a precious pearl on a string. The idea is simple – focus on each step, one after the other, without fixating on the end result. This approach keeps you in motion, propelling you toward your goals.
String of Pearls in Action
Think about planning a podcast episode, for instance. Instead of being overwhelmed by the thought of recording 52 podcasts for the year, break it down. Focus on choosing a topic – that's your first pearl. Then, the next pearl might be outlining the episode. Step by step, you add pearls to your string.
For artists creating a new collection, start with choosing the color palette – that's your first pearl. For those tackling social media content, taking photos in a single studio session is your first pearl in that string.
The Secret to Business Success
Why does this concept resonate so deeply? Because forward movement is the key to business success. Rather than being paralyzed by a daunting end goal, like leaving your 9-to-5 job or reaching a certain income milestone, focusing on those small, actionable steps keeps you engaged and motivated.
It's a strategy that I personally experienced when I left my corporate job. The countless small steps might not have seemed directly connected to my ultimate goal at the time, but looking back, the dots perfectly aligned.
